Ethanol Disinfection with detergent is used, among other applications, in operating rooms, intensive care units, examination rooms, patient rooms, and on all equipment that tolerates ethanol. Store the wipes in a ventilated area, protected from heat. Dispose of as regular waste. Wear gloves and avoid contact with eyes. Note: Before an area is disinfected with alcohol, it MUST always be cleaned to achieve the desired effect. This information is taken from the report “Guidelines on Disinfection in the Healthcare Sector, 7th edition, 2004”, published by, among others, the Central Department for Hospital Hygiene and SSI. It states: “Alcohols are easily inactivated by organic material; therefore, surfaces must be cleaned before disinfection with alcohol.
